1801 California Street , also known as Qwest Tower , is a skyscraper in Denver , Colorado . Completed in 1982, the 216-meter-tall building has 53 floors and is the second tallest building in Denver and Colorado and the 111th tallest in the United States.

1801 California Street was previously occupied by US West offices and subsequently served as Qwest 's global headquarters . After it was completed in 1982, it was the tallest building in Denver until 1984, but the building had to give that title to Republic Plaza .
