A residential building is located at 18 East Shore in the Scottish town of Pittenweem in Council Area Fife . In 1972 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish list of monuments in the highest category A.

history

According to tradition, the building was built in 1686. However, the year of construction is not certain. Construction in the early 18th century is also being considered. With the award of the monument protection in 1972 the restoration of the residential building for the National Trust for Scotland began.

The three-story residential building is on East Shore , which runs along the Pittenweems docks on the north coast of the Firth of Forths . The former Pittenweem Priory is a short distance north. The main street-side facade facing south-east is symmetrical and five axes wide. From the facades plastered with Harl , the building openings are contrasted in color with natural stone surrounds . A framed but unadorned plate is embedded above the central main portal. The facade closes with a curved gable. The side end gables are designed as a simple stepped gable . There is a coach house at the rear. Some of the original woodwork has been preserved on the first floor.
