The one he régiment de chasseurs parachutistes ( German: 1st Parachute Regiment ) is the oldest and most traditional Parachute Regiment of the French army and was founded 1943rd

history

The association was set up on the side of the Forces françaises libres in Morocco in 1943 and was deployed at the Alsace bridgehead and the fighting in the Vosges .

The regiment took part in the Indochina War and the Algerian War. Meanwhile, the regiment was involved in the military's attempted coup against the then President Charles de Gaulle in Algeria. However, it was not dissolved like the 1st REP .

In 1983, 53 soldiers were killed in an attack on peacekeeping forces in Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War . Soldiers from the unit were deployed in Chad, Haiti, Ivory Coast and Afghanistan.

In 1999, the resolution was 9 e régiment d'Infantry incorporated.

The association is currently part of the 11th Airborne Brigade ( 11 e brigade de parachutiste ).
