243rd Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 243rd Infantry Division (Wehrmacht) was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on July 9, 1943 at the Döllersheim military training area in Lower Austria and was later moved to Normandy . Here the division was almost completely destroyed after the Allied landing in France on the Cotentin peninsula in August 1944.
