description

The building is right on Market Street , the city's main street, in the center of Haddington, not far from City Hall . It was built during the 17th century. The exact year of construction is not recorded. In the late 18th century, the building was extensively redesigned. Located in the middle of a closed street, the house has two direct neighbors, of which 24-25 Market Street to the east is also classified as a category A monument.

To erect the three-story building, quarry stone was roughly cut into blocks and built into layered masonry that is exposed on the upper floors, while it is plastered on the ground floor. A shop has been set up there, while the upper floors serve as living space. The south-facing front is three axes wide with a central entrance door. The building ends with a slate-covered gable roof . At the rear there is a three-story, four-axis extension, the masonry of which is also made of quarry stone. Three dormers break through the roof, which is covered with tiles. A stair tower emerges in the inner corner between the two parts of the building.
