304th Infantry Division (Vietnam)

The 304th Infantry Division is a major unit of the Vietnamese People's Army . The division was established during the Indochina War in 1950. During the Vietnam War she was deployed in South Vietnam .

history

Indochina War

The unit was formed in 1950 from three infantry regiments, an artillery battalion and other support units. Chinese consultants helped set up the division. During the Indochina War, the division took part in the battles for Vinh Yen , Song Day , Hoa Binh and Dien Bien Phu . After the war ended, the division was reorganized and modernized in 1955.

Vietnam War

During the Vietnam War, the division was deployed in South Vietnam and took part in the siege of Khe Sanh , the Tet Offensive and the 1975 offensives.

The division is part of the 2nd Corps of the People's Army. Its headquarters are in Vĩnh Phúc in the Vĩnh Yên province .
