The house names are occasionally used to specify the buildings . These are in the south starting: Boyle (no. 33), Leitch (no. 34), Maclean , (no. 35) Gillespie , (no. 36) Mactaggart , (no. 37) Henderson , (Nr. 38) Macindeor ( No. 39), McDougall (No. 40) and Mackintosh (No. 41).

description

The nine buildings were built in closed construction along Main Street and take up the entire opposite side of the street north of the confluence of Shore Street and the buildings of the former whiskey distillery Port Charlotte in the north. The opposite side of the street is undeveloped in this area, with the exception of the Port Charlotte Hotel , so that the houses offer a view over Loch Indaal Bay , on which Port Charlotte is located, and are also clearly visible from the waterfront.

Like many houses in Port Charlotte, they were built around 1830 by Walter Frederick Campbell , the Laird of Islay, who developed the Port Charlotte settlement. With the exception of house number 34, the entrance doors are in the middle and five windows are symmetrically distributed over the fronts. The two-story houses end with slate roofs . The buildings are traditionally built on areas of around 10.5 × 8 m 2 each . The facades are mostly plastered using the traditional Harling technique. In contrast to the other buildings, the entrance door of house number 34 is not in the middle, but is offset to the right. It is the only one of the houses to have two dormer windows on both sides.
