3C 321 is a system consisting of two galaxies . The system became known through a supermassive black hole in the center of one of the two galaxies, which emits a jet perpendicular to the accretion disk due to the mechanisms of matter absorption. This jet consists of high-energy gamma rays and particles that move almost at the speed of light . The jet was discovered through a combined observation of the system with the help of the Chandra , Spitzer and Hubble space telescopes ; the Very Large Array and the Merlin radio telescope observed from Earth.
