GNU 3DLDF is a GNU software package for technical 3-D drawings. At the moment the only output is MetaPost code, but work is being carried out on a 3D graphic output for integration into TeX documents. The program was written by Laurence D. Finston.

Surname

3DLDF stands for 3D plus the author's initials (LDF). The name was chosen because the author found it unlikely that the program could be confused with any other 3D graphics software package.

history

3DLDF didn't seem like a pure MetaPost package as it was written in C ++ and uses CWEB (created by Donald Knuth and Silvio Levy ), but in 2004 it was seen as the largest and most promising project for MetaPost's 3D drawing capability.
