557th U.S. Army Artillery Group

The 557th US Army Artillery Group , or 557th USAAG for short , was a military artillery association of the United States Armed Forces .

During the Cold War , their headquarters were in the Aartal barracks in Herbornseelbach . As part of the nuclear participation, each corps of the Army of the Bundeswehr was assigned a US artillery group (USAAG) and an Ordnance Company to support it. For the III. Corps in Koblenz and the supply battalion Sw 320 in Herbornseelbach, these were the 557th USAAG and the 96th Ordnance Company of the 59th Ordnance Brigade .

The tasks included looking after the Bellersdorf special ammunition dump .
