6th Symphony (Kochan)

The Symphony no. 6 is the last Symphony of Günter Kochan (1930-2009). It was created between 2003 and 2006 and was premiered on February 11, 2011 in Berlin . The work has a playing time of about 25 minutes.

History of origin

The symphony was composed between 2003 and 2006 in Hohen Neuendorf , Günter Kochan's last place of residence. Stylistically, he drew on his Mendelssohn Variations and orchestral music No. 2 and created a contrapuntal work.

premiere

The Sixth Symphony was premiered posthumously in 2011 in the presence of his widow Inge Kochan of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin under the direction of Lothar Zagrosek in the Konzerthaus Berlin . The orchestra, formerly known as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, premiered its 2nd, 4th and 5th symphonies in the 1960s and 1980s.
