Ludwig Volrath Jüngst (born December 27, 1804 in Niederdressierendorf ; † September 21, 1880 in Bielefeld ) was a German teacher of natural history , geography and German and an honorary citizen of the city ​​of Bielefeld.

Life

Ludwig Volrath Jüngst was born on December 27, 1804 as the son of pastor Georg Philipp Wilhelm Jüngst in Niederdresselnorf in Siegerland . He grew up in Wetzlar and Soest . After graduating from high school , he studied theology in Halle (Saale) . During his studies in 1822 he became a member of the Halle fraternity and the fraternity source society, in which he probably belonged to the closer association. He had to serve a 15-month imprisonment for his fraternity-political activities. As a teacher, Jüngst initially taught in Hamburg and Wesel and as the rector of a private school in Tecklenburg .

In 1830 he became a teacher of natural history, geography and German at the Ratsgymnasium Bielefeld . During his activity, Jüngst built up a real branch there, the focus of which was no longer on humanistic education with Latin and Greek , but instead the focus of teaching was placed on natural sciences and modern languages.

During the revolution of 1848/49 he was recently involved in the Bielefeld Constitutional Association , which included parts of the liberal - democratic bourgeoisie . He published articles in the Ravensberg Volksblatt .

Recently she was married to Auguste Luise von Döring and had 5 daughters. The youngest daughter Luise Jüngst also worked as an author. Ludwig Jüngst died at the age of 75 on September 21, 1880 in Bielefeld.
