Aḫuni
Aḫuni was between about 875 and 855 BC. King of Til-Barsip , the capital of the Principality of Bit Adini . He is first mentioned in the Assyrian sources when he had to pay tribute to the Assyrian great king after the destruction of Kaprabu by Aššur-nasir-apli II . Bit Adini, supported by other local rulers, continued his resistance against the Assyrians, which was first introduced by Sulmanu-ašared III. could finally break. Sulmanu-ašared III. Bit Adini besieged initially unsuccessfully, was able to 857 BC. BC, however, put Auni to flight, whereupon Til-Barsip was converted into an Assyrian administrative center called Kar Šulmanu-ašared . 855 BC The Assyrian ruler led another campaign against Aḫuni, who was staying in a fortress on the other side of the Euphrates . Aḫuni was defeated, captured and deported to Aššur ; his whereabouts are unclear.
