A-Plan is software for project and resource planning . The current version is A-Plan 2016.

Program philosophy

A-Plan sees itself as an alternative to conventional project management programs, which are often too time-consuming and complex for small and medium-sized projects. Although the program has all the essential functions of a project management program, it deliberately dispenses with features whose meaningful use requires prior knowledge. This includes, for example, the automatic optimization of the project process and the use of resources, which only delivers the expected results when all relevant boundary conditions have been entered in full.

Time tracking

An optional module enables actual times to be taken into account, which can optionally also be adopted by other programs via a universal interface.

distribution

The software is currently used by over 120,000 users in German-speaking countries (as of 03/2017), and an English version has also been available since 2005.

Data organization

All running projects are saved in a common database. Depending on the number of simultaneous users, Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL Server can be used for this. Data exchange with Microsoft Project and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook is possible.

Freeware version

A-Plan has also been available in a freeware version since September 21, 2009. With this step, the manufacturer also provides a simple and free variant for beginners in project planning. The functionally restricted free version is intended primarily for private individuals, schoolchildren and students who want to carry out simple project planning with the help of a Gantt chart / bar chart.
