A24 Media is the first pan-African video and photo news agency and sees itself as the “voice of Africa”.

The founder Salim Amin wants to give the continent a voice. The world should be able to experience more than the usual clichés between disasters, poverty and romantic images of tourists. Even Africans mostly have to get information from foreign agencies. That is why the “ CNN of Africa” is to be built with A24 , where Africans can show “how Africa really is”. The aim is to show “the stories behind the stories” and to encourage communication within Africa. The main topics include trade, health care, the environment, art and music.

The founder is the son of Mohammed 'Mo' Amin , a well-known cameraman on the continent.

Working method

Freelance journalists can upload news material and pictures to the agency . If this is bought from a television broadcaster, the creator gets most of the lump sum transferred by the buyer. Before publication, the articles are editorially checked and often revised.

criticism

Some Africans report that the agency does not report completely independently: if a head of state and his country want to be well represented, he is often done a favor (with the appropriate consideration).
