Today's A74 road ( English for road A74 ) is the good 11 km long remainder of the important road from Glasgow to Carlisle ( Glasgow to Carlisle Road ). The remaining parts of this connection (also Europastraße 5 ) today form the M74 motorway and the A74 (M) motorway (see there). The A74 now only runs from Glasgow to Viewpark, southeast of Glasgow.
