The ACD Group is based in Achstetten in the Biberach district in Upper Swabia . It was originally founded in 1976 as ANDES Elektronik GmbH. Today, ACD is an owner-managed group of companies that is one of the technologically leading high-tech providers in the electronics sector . The ACD Group supplies hardware and software solutions in the areas of mobile devices and applications for trade and logistics, EMS as well as customer-specific industrial electronics for the medical, manufacturing, mechanical and commercial vehicle sectors. In the field of drive technology , development of customer-specific drive systems, also with integrated safety technology for electric motors of all kinds, in the power range from a few watts to 100 kW. The group employs around 400 people in its companies in Achstetten, Neustadt (Orla) and Kadan (Czech Republic), who generate annual sales of around EUR 71.9 million (as of 2016).
The first freely programmable microprocessor control PC 2000 based on the microprocessor 6502 was developed at the Achstetten site in 1978 . The main application of this control, which then went into series production from 1979, was adjustment controls for CNC machines and controls for stone processing machines . MDE terminals with barcode reading technology have been developed and produced since 1982 .
