Ana-Maria Avram

Ana-Maria Avram (born September 12, 1961 in Bucharest ; † August 1, 2017 ) was a Romanian composer and pianist .

Life

Ana-Maria Avram studied at the National Conservatory of Bucharest from 1980 to 1985 . In 1992 she received a diplôme d'études approfondies (DEA) in musical aesthetics at the Sorbonne . In 1988 she became a member of the contemporary music ensemble Hyperion . In 1994 she founded the Comunitatea Romana Electroacustica si de Muzica Asistata de Computer (CREMAC), of which she was president. She was also vice-president of the Confédération Internationale de Musique Electroacoustique (CIME).

In 2002 Avram founded the Acousmania , an international festival for electronic and computer music , with Iancu Dumitrescu , and in 2003 the International Festival for Spectral Music Musica Nova in Ploieşti , Bucharest and Sinaia . In 1994 she received the Grand Prize of the Romanian Academy for her compositions. Her works have been performed by renowned ensembles such as the Kronos Quartet and have performed at festivals such as Wien Modern .
