ACTEW Corporation Limited is a state-owned holding company in Australia . It is responsible for maintaining the basic supply networks in the capital Canberra and in the Australian Capital Territory . These include water, sewage, natural gas, telecommunications and electricity.

Australian Capital Territory Electricity and Water (ACTEW) was created in 1988 from the former ACT Electricity Authority (ACTEA). At that time the Australian Capital Territory had been given self-government and all state-controlled utility services were combined into one company. In 1995 this was converted to the stock corporation ACTEW Corporation in order to be able to react better to the deregulation of the market.

In October 2000, the company formed a joint venture with the Australian Gas Light Company (AGL) as part of a public private partnership , turning ACTEW into a holding company. The electricity and natural gas sectors were transferred to the new company ActewAGL ; ACTEW continued to own the water supply and sewage networks.
