The AC Marinhense ( officially: Atlético Clube Marinhense ) is a sports club from the central Portuguese district town of Marinha Grande . In addition to football, it has departments for athletics and rugby .
history
The association was founded on January 1st, 1923. Between 1934/35 and 1937/38 the club played in the II league for three years. Since 1945/46 the club has been commuting between the II Divisão (25 seasons), the III Divisão (27 seasons) and the II B (9 seasons). The club achieved the best placement in its club history in the 1970/71 season, when it finished the season in second place in the northern group of the II Divisão. In the 1964/65 season Marinhense won 2-1 in the Taça de Portugal at Sporting Lisbon . Since relegation in 2010, the club has played in the III Divisão.
