ADAS (asteroid search program)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ADAS (abbreviation for Asiago - DLR Asteroid Survey, where DLR stands for German Aerospace Center ) is the name of an asteroid search program that has been operated since 2001 by the Asiago Observatory of the University of Padua in cooperation with the DLR Institute for Planetary Research . With the help of a 67 cm Schmidt telescope at the Asiago observatory, around 320 asteroids have been discovered so far (early 2005).

ADAS is (alongside UDAS ) a successor program to ODAS sky surveillance, which had to be discontinued in 1999 due to funding cuts.
