The Federal Association of German Innovation, Technology and Start-Up Centers ( BVIZ for short ) was founded in 1988 on the initiative of 23 managers from the first German start-up centers as the “Association of German Technology and Start-up Centers” (ADT). The name was changed to the current name in 2015. As an umbrella organization , the BVIZ not only represents the interests of its direct members, but also of all around 350 centers in Germany and the more than 13,000 companies and start-ups located there. The BVIZ has developed its own auditing process to implement uniform quality standards for the centers. More than 30 centers have already been awarded the “Recognized Innovation Center” quality rating after a corresponding examination. The office is based in Berlin .

tasks and goals

The BVIZ has set itself the goal of supporting technology transfer and innovation as well as business start-ups and developments. In addition, the importance and performance of the technology and start-up centers and their competence in supporting innovative business start-ups are to be further developed and appropriately presented to the public. The association pays special attention to active support

  • the expansion of the economic basis of innovation centers and innovative companies by expanding the network between the centers, industrial companies, credit industry, consulting firms as well as politics,
  • the further development of the performance potential of the innovation centers to support the development of the companies in the centers,
  • promoting the exchange of information and experience between sponsors, operators, owners and sponsors of innovation centers,
  • the maintenance and expansion of the national and international network of innovation centers.

The BVIZ represents the interests of the innovation centers and thus also of the young companies in the centers in public, vis-à-vis politics, business, science and the media. As an association, he advocates the creation of favorable framework conditions for business start-ups in Germany. The BVIZ therefore maintains a partnership with the Grand Prix of Medium-Sized Enterprises and the President Bertram Dressel is also a member of the Presidium of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation

Members

The operating company of a start-up center whose main activities are in the Federal Republic of Germany can become a full member of the BVIZ . Individuals, institutions and companies planning and building an innovation center can be accepted as sponsoring members, as well as institutions and companies in particular from the areas of start-up and management consulting, financing and insurance, venture capital, technology development, brokerage and application, regional and commercial development as well as public research and funding institutions, foreign innovation centers and associations.

International contacts

Thanks to its many years of experience in planning, setting up and operating innovation centers, the BVIZ is also an internationally sought-after partner for exchanging experiences. In addition, the use of the global network for establishing corporate partnerships is becoming increasingly important. The BVIZ and the German centers are involved in a wide range of international collaborations and projects. Foreign partner associations include the Association of Technology Centers in Austria, the European Business & Innovation Center Network, the International Association of Science Parks, the World Alliance for Innovation, the National Business Incubation Association (USA) and the United Kingdom Business Incubation Ltd (Great Britain)
