African Taekwondo Union

The African Taekwondo Union (AFTU) is a continental association of the Olympic recognized World Taekwondo Federation . 44 national Taekwondo associations (status 2010) are united in it. It was founded in 1979 in Abidjan ( Ivory Coast ).

The President of the AFTU is the Egyptian General Ahmed Mohamed Fouly , with whom it is also a Vice President of the World Federation (WTF). With Driss El-Hilali (Morocco) and Issaka Ide (Niger), it also provides two of 14 other council members there. So far, the athletes of the national associations organized in the AFTU have achieved two Olympic medals (bronze in 2004 and 2008).
