Sook-Yin Lee (* in Vancouver , British Columbia ) is a Canadian rock singer , radio presenter , film actress , director and screenwriter . She has not yet made public her date of birth.

Life

Sook-Yin Lee is the daughter of a Chinese-born Canadian couple. Her mother was born in the People's Republic of China and her father in Hong Kong . She grew up bilingual ( English and Cantonese ). In the early 1990s she was the lead singer of the Canadian independent rock band Bob's Your Uncle . After their dissolution, she released a solo album in 1994 and 1996 .

She has been a director and screenwriter of television and cinema films and appears as an actress since 1992.

From 1995 to 2001 Sook-Yin Lee was a video jockey at MuchMusic , and since 2002 she has been the presenter on the first English-language radio program of the public broadcaster CBC / Radio-Canada .

She caused a stir with a leading role in John Cameron Mitchell's 2006 film Shortbus , where she had unsimulated, explicitly filmed intercourse with the amateur actor Raphael Barker in front of the camera . The termination initially issued by the CBC was withdrawn after public protests by Francis Ford Coppola , Michael Stipe , Julianne Moore and Yoko Ono .
