The AG Märkische Kleinbahn in Berlin (-MKB- founded in 1981, legal association since 1982) has set itself the task of keeping other objects from railway technology (e.g. signaling, telecommunications and safety technology) operational or museum-like in addition to historical railway vehicles to make these available to the general public. The center of operations is the engine shed in Schönow in the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf .

vehicles

The vehicles and systems of the MKB and the other exhibits are maintained by the members in their leisure time. As far as the approval for the railway operation is required, the legally prescribed acceptance is carried out by the state railway authority.

Operational standard and auxiliary vehicles with their own drive are:

  • MKB 01 - small locomotive Kö 0128 , diesel engine 25 HP,
  • MKB 03 - Small locomotive DIEMA DVL 15/1, diesel engine 16 HP,
  • MKB 51 - Rottenkraftwagen ex DB Klv 51-9005 , diesel engine 75 HP,
  • MKB 52 - motor trolley ex Siemens freight railway (type Klv 12 ), petrol engine 26 HP,
  • MKB 53 - hand lever trolley ex TCDD, "muscle motor",
  • MKB 55 - motorized trolley ex MÁV, petrol engine 14 HP.

There are also various freight wagons (some of which are still being refurbished), a Prussian makeshift passenger car, and a rail mail car (parked).

Other exhibits

A ticket issuance based on the historical model, along with the ticket printing facility, the "Frohnau" training signal box and the MKB signal garden shed light on the background to railway operations.

business

MKB is a joint user with its own operations management on the facilities of the former Zehlendorfer Eisenbahn , now RBH Logistics / Goerzbahn . As with other museum railways, there is no train traffic at MKB, operations are limited to shunting trips. Nonetheless, visitors to the company premises have the opportunity to ride on the vehicles. Every year in September, the activities and progress in the association's work are presented to the general public at the open day.
