History and goals of the magazine
AION Linguistica was founded in 1959 by Walter Belardi . The second series was published from 1979 to 2011 in what was then the Dipartimento di Studi del Mondo classico e del Mediterraneo antico and edited by Domenico Silvestri ( ISSN 1724-6172 ). Alberto Manco has been chief editor since 2000. With the expansion of the new department Dipartimento di Studi Letterari, Linguistici e Comparati , the journal has been geared towards articles on broader areas of linguistics since 2012 (including the literary and comparative perspective).
