Giuseppe Brizio

Giuseppe Brizio SJ (* around 1533 ; † March 2, 1604 in Rome ) was an early Roman Baroque architect who worked at the court of the Polish kings.

Life and works

Former Collegiate Church of St. John in Jarosław

The Jesuit Brizio was sent to Poland as an architect and arrived in Poznan on June 24, 1575 . Shortly afterwards he went to Jarosław, where he planned the construction of the Jesuit college in September. He then worked as a restorer in Pułtusk . In 1577 he visited Cracow . In 1580 he began building the Jesuit college in Jarosław. In 1593 he built the Collegiate Church of St. John in Jarosław, which was consecrated on April 24, 1594.
