AK-100
The AK-100 (the abbreviation AK stands for Russian Артиллерийский комплекс (Artillerijskij kompleks; German: artillery complex)) is a single-barreled naval gun of 100 mm caliber. It was developed in the Soviet Union and is still in service with the Russian Navy today .
General
The gun can be used against air, land and sea targets as well as approaching cruise missiles . Development began in the late 1960s, a first prototype was tested in 1973, and the gun was officially put into service by the Soviet Navy in 1976 . The gun is loaded automatically, with a cadence of 50 to 60 rounds / min, is achieved according to some sources of 80 shots / min. The maximum range is around 20 km. Water is used to cool the barrel.
The AK-100 is designed for use on medium to large ships.
