AKUT search and rescue association

AKUT Search and Rescue Association ( Turkish : AKUT Arama Kurtarma Derneği) is a non-profit organization in Istanbul that was founded in 1996 by a group of climbers.

By 2014, the association had established 33 teams in Turkey and completed more than 1000 search and rescue operations . She is a member of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) of the United Nations and the International Rescue Dog Organization .

In 2011 the association took part in the classification event carried out by INSARAG and has since been certified as a medium-difficulty search and rescue team (Medium Urban Search and Rescue Team). The association took part in the rescue work after the two earthquakes in Van (Turkey) in 2011 .
