ALFRED (for A llele Fre quency D atabase, Allelfrequenz- database ) is a freely accessible on the web online database of allele frequency - Data for DNA - polymorphism anthropologically defined human populations . It currently (April 2007) comprises over 20,000 constantly growing frequency tables and is maintained by the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut . The database is fed from many sources and provides access to other external databases through numerous links . Thanks to standardized data acquisition, it is also suitable for setting up allele frequency databases of other species .
