history

In 1997 Johanna Penz founded the company and organized the first trade fair in Hall 1 of the Innsbruck Exhibition Center under the name "editions of art". In the following year the name was changed to "ART Innsbruck" under which it takes place once a year. In 1999, ART Innsbruck recorded a 20 percent increase in visitors and responded to this by increasing the exhibition area from around 2,000 to 4,000 square meters and moving to Hall 4 of the Innsbruck Exhibition Center. In 2013, a visitor record of more than 17,000 trade fair visitors was booked on all days. In the course of a trade fair relaunch in 2015, the program was expanded to include art from the 19th to the 21st century and the move to the spacious main hall A. The latter meant an expansion of the exhibition area to 6,000 m².

In July 2019, insolvency proceedings were opened against ART Kunstmesse GmbH.
