The ASV Kleinottweiler is a German football club based in the named district of the city of Bexbach in the Saar- Palatinate district of Saarland .

history

The association was founded in 1920. The club was initially called the Bavaria Kleinottweiler football club. The first chairman was Karl Hilpert. In 1924 they merged with the cycling club and called themselves from then on "Allgemeine Sportvereinigung".

The first major success came in the 1964/65 season. Despite fierce competition from clubs such as Heiligenwald, Illingen, Landsweiler, Limbach, Marpingen and Holz, ASV Kleinottweiler was able to take over the top of the table on the fifth match day and did not give it up until the end of the season. With 44: 8 points and 75:30 goals, Kleinottweiler was four points ahead of Heiligenwald champion - promotion to the top division of Saarland was achieved.

For four years the ASV was a member of the 1st Amateur League Saar. In 1966/67 the club achieved its 6th place, the best placement in its history. Due to the departure of several players, the game year 1968/69 was relegated to the 2nd amateur league. In the first year after relegation, the runner-up was won with one point behind the amateurs of FC Homburg and in the 1970/71 season the promotion to the 1st amateur league Saar again made. After two years of membership, however, due to the aging of the team, relegation could no longer be averted.

The club played in the second amateur league with varying degrees of success before the championship could be won again in 1979/80.

In 1982, however, relegation from the highest Saarland class, now called the Saar Association League, could no longer be prevented.

In the 2002/03 season, the team played in the Landesliga Nordost. After the 2005/06 season, however, the team rose due to the 16th and thus last place with only 7 points at the end of the season in the District League East . There the class could only just be held with two points ahead of the first relegation place. For the 2012/13 season the team was allowed to play in the Landesliga Ost again. There they even placed themselves in second place at the end of the season, which allowed the team to take part in a promotion game to the Association League Northeast . However, this game at SV Wustweiler was lost 4-2 on penalties, which meant that the team could not be promoted. The club still plays in this league today.

In February 2020 there were initial talks with the neighboring club SV Altstadt about merging the teams into a game community.
