AVG TuneUp , previously AVG PC TuneUp , TuneUp Utilities and TuneUp , is a system software for Microsoft Windows developed by the German company TuneUp Software (since 2011 a subsidiary of the Czech company AVG) , which is used to analyze and configure different utilities and maintaining the computer.
history
The first version of this software was published in 1997 under the name TuneUp 97 and achieved a high level of awareness in the German-speaking area thanks to its presentation and award by several German-language specialist magazines.
With the publication of TuneUp Utilities 2003 in November 2002, the word Utilities was added to the product name. This software, which was previously only available in German, was also offered in English and French.
Since the TuneUp Utilities 2011 version, the Business Editions have also been available for business customers. To this end, TuneUp entered into a sales partnership with SAD in September 2011.
criticism
A short time after AVG took over TuneUp in 2011, the character of this software has changed. TuneUp received more functions and more errors. Some errors caused serious problems such as loss of data or loss of functionality that could only be fixed by installing paid updates. Some users interpreted this behavior as part of the AVG business model. Some of them went so far as to classify the then new versions of TuneUp as software with harmful effects ( computer virus ). Further criticisms concern advertisements and a font that is too small that cannot be set.
