The AVR bvba , based in the Belgian Roeselare , is a manufacturer of tractor-drawn and self-propelled agricultural machinery , especially in the field of potato technology . In addition to potato harvesters, the products also include other technology that is required for potato cultivation, such as milling, potato leaf mulchers and storage technology.

history

In 1849 the forge of the Vansteenkiste family was opened. Initially, hand tools for agriculture and horticulture were produced. In the 1950s they started to build single row potato harvesters. At the end of the 1960s, Norbert Nollet accepted a position as a technical engineer. In 1973 he took over the company and named it after Alfons Vansteenkiste from Roeselare AVR . In 1983 the company was split into AVR tools for hand tools and AVR Machinery for agricultural machinery. The Netagco Holding took over in 1998 AVR. Together with other companies, Netagco has become an important manufacturer in this sector. The name was changed to Netagco AVR. In 2002 Netagco decided to end the production of Rumpstad products in the Netherlands and to distribute them to the other companies in the holding. In 2003, Netagco Holding went bankrupt. The Nollet family then bought the company back and renamed it AVR. In 2008 a new assembly hall for self-propelled vehicles was built. AVR claims to be the longest established producer in the potato division. The current self-propelled Puma has a drive power of 428 hp.
