The house Reichenstraße 38 is a listed building in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the northern part of the historic Quedlinburger Neustadt and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site . The building is listed in the Quedlinburg monument register as an agricultural citizen's farm. The building Reichenstrasse 37 , which is also listed, is adjacent to the north and Reichenstrasse 39 to the south .

Architecture and history

The two-storey half - timbered house was built in 1660, at the same time as the Martinshof to the north and House 37 . The construction was carried out by the carpenter Andreas Bock . In the literature there are also, probably incorrect, assumptions that Martin Lange was the master builder.

The building is eight containers wide . The row of stands from the construction period has been preserved on the upper floor . The parapets were later relocated to allow larger windows. Only the middle parapet remained unchanged, there was no longer a window. At the beginning of the 20th century, the original condition was restored in the course of a renovation. At the same time, an existing stand rhythm was removed from the ground floor and the row of stands was also used here and the windows reduced to their original size. The decorative elements are rounded beam heads , footbands in the corner , profiled filler wood and stylized ship throat on the threshold . In the southern half of the house there is a house passage which was probably enlarged to its present size in the 19th century by a carter.

The property is laid out as a four-sided courtyard. The courtyard development is also carried out in half-timbered construction.
