The house Reichenstrasse 5 is a listed building in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the northern part of the historic Quedlinburger Neustadt. The building is registered in the Quedlinburg monument register as a residential building.

Architecture and history

The two-storey half - timbered house is the oldest surviving half-timbered house in the historic Quedlinburg Neustadt. According to dendrochronological studies, the core of the building is dated to the year 1356. At the end of the 20th century, it was assumed that it would not have been made until around 1700. A comprehensive renovation took place at the end of the 19th century. At the end of the 20th century the building had three floors. Around the beginning of the 21st century, the house was rebuilt and renovated. The second floor was dismantled, making the roof significantly steeper.
