A palaver
A Palaver - Architektur im Radio is an Austrian radio broadcast on architecture topics . The approximately one-hour program is broadcast terrestrially on the first Monday of every month from 1 p.m. on Radio Orange 94.0 and on every third Thursday of the month from 2 p.m. on Radio Freirad 105.9 .
Since 2004, the programs have been published simultaneously with the broadcast as podcasts on their own website and in the “Cultural Broadcasting Archive” of the free radios in Austria. The online archive includes - freely accessible - most issues of the series.
history
The format was founded after the joint organization of the first student conference changing strategies in 2001 at the Institute for Building and Construction at the Vienna University of Technology in 2002 by the two architects Bernhard Frodl and David Pašek, who produce it on a voluntary basis.
At the beginning of the series, the focus was on the young architecture scene, followed by a series of city documentaries in and around Vienna. A Palaver has always tried to offer a platform to those topics and protagonists who are often less well known in the media world.
Format and guests
A Palaver uses the medium of radio to deal with content, concepts, ideas and stories, wishes and dreams in the architectural environment. The format of the program is mostly an informal but in-depth conversation with different personalities from the arts and architecture. In addition, initiatives, exhibitions, research projects or publications that deal thematically with architecture are presented and discussed.

A Palaver has or had thematic cooperations with the architecture magazine architektur.aktuell, the magazine for architecture and urban life QUER, the Architekturzentrum Wien and other Austrian institutions that deal with architecture.
A Palaver has been accompanying the interdisciplinary course format "Field Trips in Public Space" at the future.lab of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning at the Vienna University of Technology since 2015 .
A Palaver has been a media partner of aip - architecture in progress since 2018.
Organizational form
In 2016, the association of the same name for the promotion of quality in architecture, building art, building culture, urbanism, designed surroundings and design was founded in Vienna.
Identifier
The program's signature melody was composed in 2002 by Alexander J. Eberhard.
