The newspaper A Voz da Figueira (German: The voice of Figueira) is a local newspaper from the Portuguese seaside resort of Figueira da Foz .

history
In 1928 José Maria de Carvalho founded the printing and graphic company Empresa Escola Gráfica Figueirense - José Maria de Carvalho & F.ºs , which he managed until May 1987. In 1953 he published the first edition of the newspaper A Voz da Figueira . The first editor-in-chief was Dr. Ernesto Tomé.
From 1987, the founder's son, Carlos Alberto Lopes Carvalho, was the publisher. In 1999 the company changed its name to A Voz da Figueira - Edição de Publicações Periódicas, Ldª. Since January 9, 2003, Isabel Maria Silva Carvalho has been the third generation of the family to take over management of the company. She is the publisher and editor-in-chief.

The newspaper reports on political, cultural and economic events from the district ( concelho ) Figueira, but also on political decisions affecting him at district and state level, etc. One page is devoted to local news from the individual communities ( freguesias ), two are devoted to sport, in addition to local sport in particular about the professional football department of the Naval 1º de Maio and the basketball team of the Ginásio Clube Figueirense . In addition, various leading articles on local and national topics are printed.
The newspaper generally only publishes self-researched articles that are occasionally cited regionally, nationally and internationally.

A Voz da Figueira appears weekly, on Thursdays, with a circulation of 8,300 copies. It's the biggest newspaper in town. It is mainly financed by the sales price of 0.85 euros (domestic annual subscription: 26 euros), three quarters of the 16 pages remain completely free of advertising.
The company is family owned. 25% of the share capital is held by the publisher Isabel Maria Silva Carvalho, 75% by Maria Madalena F. Silva Carvalho, her mother and widow of the previous editor, Carlos Alberto Lopes Carvalho.
