Ginásio Clube Figueirense is a sports club in the Portuguese coastal town of Figueira da Foz , which is particularly known in the country's basketball and rowing sports. The first basketball team has been playing in the country's second division, the ProLiga, since 2012, where it is currently run under the name Casino Ginásio , after its main sponsor Casino Figueira .

The club was founded on January 1, 1895, as Club Gymnastico Velocipédico Figueirense , with its seat at number 35 on Rua Tenente Valadim, today's Rua dos Combatentes da Grande Guerra . Cyclist José Bento Pessoa was one of its founders . The first sections established were fencing , gymnastics , and football . In the course of its history, more and more sports have been added or have been given up completely or temporarily. His basketball team Casino Ginásio , named after the main sponsor Casino Figueira , is one of the country's established teams and won both the championship and the cup in the 1976/77 season. The club building is in the immediate vicinity of the Estádio Municipal José Bento Pessoa , home of the professional football team of the city's other major club, Naval 1º de Maio . The Ginásio Clube Figueirense maintains, in addition to extensive sports facilities, a library and a club museum, as well as its own publicly accessible gastronomy. The club also has its own indoor swimming pool and a training and rowing center on Mondego , in the municipality of Vila Verde , with a view of the Ponte Edgar Cardoso towards the ocean .

In 2010, a total of 1,457 athletes were active in the eleven sports offered by the club, and it had 3,048 registered members.

The association's budget of 614,000 euros (2010) consists of 35% sponsorship money and 65% own income, including a. Membership fees, course fees, entrance tickets, gastronomy and merchandising . The association is recognized as an Instituição de Utilidade Pública and thus as a non-profit association.
