The Casino Figueira , even Casino da Figueira da Foz (formerly Casino Peninsular), a casino in the Portuguese seaside resort of Figueira da Foz .

history

It was founded in 1884 as the successor to the Teatro Circo Saraiva de Carvalho, which previously existed at the same location . The casino first received a gaming license in 1928. It is one of the oldest casinos on the Iberian Peninsula . The first slot machines were added in 1970 .

Until the extensive, 300-day renovation in 2002/2003, costing 10 million euros, the casino also had cinemas in which the Figueira da Foz international film festival , one of the oldest Portuguese film festivals, took place from 1972 to 2002 .

Cultural events have always been held at Casino Figueira on a regular basis.
