The Aalborg Defense and Garrison Museum ( Aalborg Forsvars- og Garrison Museum ) is a military museum located west of Aalborg . It is located in a large hangar of the sea ​​airfield Seefliegerhorst Aalborg, which was built during the occupation of Denmark in World War II in 1940 .

history

The museum opened on June 22nd, 2002 and has continuously expanded its exhibitions ever since. It includes the branches of the Danish military: Army, Air Force, Home Guard, Police and Rescue Service (civil defense). It also contains a comprehensive exhibition on Denmark during the Second World War and Aalborg as a garrison town.

The military authorities made a major contribution to the procurement of most of the exhibits, particularly those involving heavy equipment such as armored vehicles, guns and fighter planes . The main focus is on the conditions during the Second World War and the post-war period. The museum shows Danish military equipment during the Cold War.
