Eel brood leader

An eel (brut) manager , also Aalgang , Aaltreppe or Aalleiter called, is a fishway , which specifically address the needs of Aalen is aligned. Such an ascent aid enables the young eels ( glass eels , eel brood), which migrate upstream in the spring at night , to advance against strong currents and thus to bypass waterfalls and weirs .

An eel ladder usually consists of a channel or tube in which the flow is slowed down by built-in cross bars, stones, brushwood or plastic bristles so that the small eels can swim against it. At the lower end, the ladder is expanded like a funnel.
