Paul Friedrich von Wyss

Paul Friedrich von Wyss (born December 24, 1844 in Zurich , † January 26, 1888 in Tenerife ) was a Swiss lawyer and legal scholar.

Life

Paul Friedrich von Wyss was the eldest son of the legal historian Friedrich von Wyss , a law professor at the University of Zurich. He studied law at the University of Zurich , Georg-August University in Göttingen and the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1867 he was with the work of Liability for foreign culpa under Roman law doctorate . In 1869 he became a district judge in Zurich. In 1874 he was appointed full professor of Swiss civil law at the University of Basel and succeeded Johannes Schnell . Paul Friedrich von Wyss played a key role in the creation of the Swiss Code of Obligations .

In October 1880 he left Europe due to pneumonia and settled with his wife and some of his children on Tenerife. In 1888 he died of his illness.
