Aarhus Teater
The Aarhus Teater in the center of Aarhus is the largest regional theater ( Landsdelsscene ) in Denmark .
history
It was built to replace the old Svedekassen theater . Aarhus grew into Jutland 's largest city during the 19th century and the old theater had become too small for the public. From August 12, 1898, a new theater was built based on a design by the Danish architect Hack Kampmann . After two years of construction it was completed and could be inaugurated on September 15, 1900. The building was built in the Danish Skønvirkestil - a mixture of Art Nouveau , Heimatstil and National Romanticism - and is now a listed building.
The theater is visited by around 100,000 spectators every year. It has around 150 permanent employees and a large number of freelancers.
The Aarhus Teater runs a drama school and a drama school.
