Abanuea ( Eng : "The Long- Term Beach") is a sunken island that belonged to the Tarawa Atoll in the Gilbert Islands in the Republic of Kiribati .

Abanuea was a motu of the atoll, which was previously used by fishermen as a landing site. However, she sank in the sea in the 1990s. A similar fate befell Tebua Tarawa in 1999.
