Abderrahmane Alfidja

Abderrahmane Alfidja (* 1942 ) is a Nigerien economist and politician .

Life

Abderrahmane Alfidja studied in France at the University of Dijon and the University of Paris . He entered the civil service in Niger, where he worked in managerial positions in the areas of trade and transport, among others. From 1968 to 1970 he worked as an economic expert for the research department of the Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva . He then worked in the Nigerien Ministry for Development and Cooperation as Director for Research and Programs and Director for Planning.

Alfidja was a member of the Niger government during the first years of the rule of the Supreme Military Council under Seyni Kountché . He became State Secretary in 1974 , initially for Cooperation, then in the same year for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation at that time was Adamou Moumouni Djermakoye . From 1975 to 1976 Alfidja worked as the state secretary responsible for economic affairs, trade and industry at the presidential chancellery, then from 1976 to 1977 as minister for economic affairs, trade and industry. From 1978 to 1986 he was a member of the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund , initially in a rotating position and from 1982 in a permanent position.
