Abel Mathieu

Abel Mathieu (* around 1520 in Chartres , † after 1572 ) was a French lawyer and Romance scholar .

life and work

Abel Mathieu, sieur des Moystardières, published in the 16th century with a dedication to Johanna III. (Navarra) Writings on the French language , which in some respects anticipate the normative language concept of the 17th century ( François de Malherbe ) and which were therefore reissued in 2008.
