Aberdare Valley Railway

The Aberdare Valley Railway was a British railway company in the county of Glamorgan in South Wales .

The company was founded on July 2, 1855 to build a 2.4 kilometer long railway line between the Aberdare Canal and the Middle Dyffryn coal mine . The line was laid out in the broad gauge of 2140 mm and was financed by the Vale of Neath Railway (VNR) and operated from the opening in November 1856. On July 21, 1859, the VNR received the right to take over the Aberdare Valley. This was done on April 2, 1864.
