Abysses - Incredible Crimes (Original title: True Crime with Aphrodite Jones ) is an American crime thriller - documentary series that was broadcast from March 2010 to July 2016 on the American broadcaster Investigation Discovery . The German-language first broadcast has been on the German channel TLC since February 24, 2018 .
concept
The documentary series reconstructs American criminal and murder cases. Scenes are used as well as interviews with the relatives of the victims and the investigators and lawyers at the time. For this purpose, crime reporter and bestselling author Aphrodite Jones is traveling through the United States to host the program.
One case is dealt with in each episode; Jones leads through the show as a presenter and off-speaker. In the German version, the program is hosted by Barbara Eligmann . A male speaker takes over the voiceover.
The concept is similar to the television program On the Case , which has been broadcast on Investigation Discovery since October 2009 .

From March 11, 2010 to July 18, 2016, the documentary series was broadcast on the US station Investigation Discovery . While the first two seasons were broadcast on Thursdays at 10 p.m., the third season was broadcast on Mondays at 10 p.m. The fourth season switched back to Thursday, initially at 9 p.m. and later at 8 p.m. The last two seasons were broadcast again on Mondays at 9 p.m.
The German-language first broadcast has been on the German channel TLC since February 24, 2018 . The translation and broadcast is not based on the original classification of the episodes. In addition, the German version is moderated by Barbara Eligmann . While the fifth season aired every Saturday at 10:15 p.m., the sixth season aired on Wednesdays at 10:15 p.m. So far, these two seasons have been shown for the first time in German. From May 9, 2019, the third season will be shown on Thursdays at the same time.
