The Abiad lake , engl. Lake Abiad is located in the Sudanese province of Janub Kurdufan (South Kurdufan), south of the city of Kadugli .
The lake with an area of about 30 km² is 450 m . It is surrounded by forest savannah . An area of 5000 km² was proposed as a bird sanctuary .
